Don't have your email caught as Spam
If you have a site and send emails regularly to your customers, you've probably been flagged in a spam database at some point.
These are some tips on staying out of the spam databases.
- Have a clear return address.
Some email addresses show "info" rather than the name of the company. Send an email to yourself to be sure that your email address display's your company name. - Have a clear subject line.
The subject line is a trigger for getting flagged as spam. This should be clear and it will be helpful to list your company name and the type of special your are having. - Include an unsubscribe method.
At the bottom of each email there should be a method for the reciepients to unsubscribe. This can be a link for them to email you, a link to an unsubscribe page on your website, or instructions on unsubscribing. - Remove any recipients that have unsubscribed.
Once someone asks to be removed from your email list, remove them immediately. - Have clear contact information on each email.
The email that goes out to your mailing list should include easy contact information on the bottom of the email. Company name, address, phone and email should all be listed. - Check spelling before you send.
This may sound funny, but spammers use mis-spelled words to get past the spam filters. A correctly spelled email will help you to stay out of the spam lists. - Keep the email simple and clean.
Avoid ALL CAPS, very large type, or extra spacing in words. Plain text emails work very well and won't be as likely to be caught in a spam database.
